Happy Hour: 3:00 – 6:00 P. M. Daily

Once again, we have been here before, but only for drinks. Nancy has stated that this is the best drink deal in town. The deal was in fact so good, that she made me circle back for a third round after burgers one night… so we felt it necessary to “whore it up”.

The interior is equal parts rustic and modern. The seating area is clean, wide open, and spacious, and the marble bar seats roughly fifteen. The ambience is understated, with muted colors, minimal, yet adequate lighting, and low music. There was jazz, indie rock, and somehow, and an almost excessive amount of Phil Collins. The smell of fries is intoxicating.

The happy hour note on the primary menu reads: half off all drinks (roughly 20 beers on tap – great local and national variety, local takes on classics such as the Freret Street Gibson, Streetcar, and Raspberry Royale) and half off all starters and bar fare (meat pies regularly $8.00, arancinis regularly $7.00. – they change daily).  They use great liquors such as Deep Eddy, Stoli, and Yazi vodkas, Hendrix gin, and Bayou rums. Prices regularly range from $10.00 – $12.00.

Our bartender Nathan places hand-stamped paper placemats and silverware, and immediately talks up the happy hour specials and craft cocktails. We liked him immediately. Our drinks were prompt and delicious, with great presentation. Our food was delivered shortly thereafter.

The Duck Fat Fries are presented with Chili Pepper Aioli – a very spicy dipping sauce. We enjoyed them, they’re great fries – not greasy at all. The meat pies were out of this world (turkey, black beans, roasted jalapeños, poblano peppers, and cilantro lime crema).

This is a great happy hour.  We will be back.
